details

This page was created to share techniques that I’ve been exploring to communicate architectural details for construction. I’m regularly developing SketchUp vignettes and traditional orthographic details in a quest to better communicate the design intent to contractors.

Here are some common interior details.  A typical punched opening and a swing door.  A lot more information than is common in a set of drawings and likely more than is needed for such a common residential trim condition.  The primary goal here was to explore how traditional orthographic projection could be paired and organized with a model vignette to help quickly visualize the finished trim condition.

All details are provided for visualization only.  Every architectural detail needs to be carefully considered given its specific circumstance.  The materials used, product manufacturer recommendations, the specific conditions surrounding the detail, and construction budget.  Just to name a few.
